Harsil is a tiny village in the Bhagirathi valley. It is around 72 km from Uttarkashi and is situated along the highway that leads to Gangotri. It is situated at a height of 2623 m and is known for its apples and natural surroundings. Accommodation facilities are available in the form of forest rest houses and bungalows.
