Rudranath Temple is situated in Gaurikund and is one of the Panch Kedars. The temple is located at a height of 2,286 m above the sea level and is a rock temple. Tourists can see the Nanda Devi, Trishul and Nanda Ghunti Himalayan peaks from the site. The range of the Himalayas resembles the face of Lord Shiva and is also known as Rudramukh.Moreover, the temple is situated amidst holy ponds such as Suryakund, Chandrakund and Tarakund. It is believed that the temple was built by the Pandavas for seeking repentance after the battle of Kurukshetra.
