Maneri is on the way to Gangotri from Uttarkashi, 13 km from the base camp at Uttarkashi. Maneri has very recently developed as a popular tourist attraction because of the dam on the Bhagirathi River. Water is received via an 8 km long tunnel to the turbines at Tiloth. As a result, a lake has been formed at Maneri which attracts people.
