This place, situated amidst the Kumaon hills, at an altitude of 400 ft above sea level, Bhimtal is a small town that is known for the Bhimtal Lake, owing to which, this town is placed at the top, in the tourist map of Nainital.This place is named after Bhim, one among the Pandava brothers. The area around this lake, consists of several attractions like the Folk Culture Museum and the Victorian dam. The island in the middle of the lake, is a major attraction. The lake offers a migratory habitat for several exotic and rare Trans-Himalayan birds.
