Kalsi
The sacred destination, Kalsi is a beautiful himalyan hamlet located at the convergence of the Yamuna and Tons rivers in Dehradun destrict in an Indian state of Uttaranchal. It is popular for the famous Mauryan Emperor Ashoka’s Rock Edict which attracts national and international tourists throught the year. It is assumed that the rock edicts are the place, where King used as a medium to spread his ideology as well as Buddhism. The features of the Ashoka’s Rock Edict is a pear-shaped quartz rock, which has 10 feet high and 10 feet long and 8 feet width. There are two different inscriptions which are in Brahmi and Prakrit, which are deciphered as the King’s reform and advice to the people. Moreover, the names of five Greek kings are inscribed on the rock that helps in dating the edict back to 253 BC.
