Ghangaria village is located 23.5 km away from the town of Joshimath and is locally called as Govinddham. The village receives heavy snowfall during the winter season and the best time to visit Ghangaria is between the months of May and October. It serves as a base camp for trekking to the Valley of Flowers and Hemkund Sahib.
