Garhwali Mess is one of the oldest buildings in the hill station, which was built by the British in January 1988. The mess reflects the rich heritage of the Army and also of the destination in general. It is one of the old and finely preserved heritage buildings of Lansdowne.The mess is considered to be an important museum in Asia, comprising atypical compilation of skin of wild animals, furnishings and trophies. There is a dial consisting of arrow symbols that direct the route for Nandadevi, Chaukhamba, Kamet and other snow-capped peaks of the Himalayan Range.
