Samaspur Bird Sanctuary is located in the Rohaniya Development Block of the region, approximately at a distance of 122 km from Lucknow, on the Lucknow-Varanasi Highway. In 1987, it was established on a total area of around 799.371 hectares. Unchahar is considered as the closest railway station to Samaspur and the nearest airport is Fursatganj, Rae-Bareli. The season from November to March is considered as a best season to visit this place. There are 250 types of different birds found at this place. Many birds like greleg goose, pin tail, common teel, vision, showler, surkhab etc come to this place from distances of over 5000 km. Local birds consist of comb ducks, whistling teels, spot bills, spoon bills, king fishers, vultures etc. There are twelve different types of fishes present in the lake at Samaspur.
