Pilibhit Tiger Reserve
The Pilibhit Tiger Reserve covers a total land area of 1087 sq km and is located within the Lagga Bhagga Forest Range. Nearby the tiger reserve are the forest areas of Khutar and Kakraha, that are registered under the category of protected forest areas of the region. The tiger reserve of Pilibhit has been sanctioned under the 'Project Tiger'. The tiger reserve was established in the year 2008 in the month of September. The northern part of the tiger reserve is located within the Indo - Nepal boundary, whereas the southern part of the reserve is created by the rivers of Khakra and Sharda. Some of the species found here include animals like leopard, tiger, deer, Bengal floricans and hispid hare.
