Barsana Travel Map

Barsana, also known as Varsana, is located around 20 km away from Kosi. It is the centre of the nagar panchayat in the Mathura District. The village is situated near Mathura and has religious importance as several stories regarding Lord Krishna are based in the region.It is believed that the site is the childhood home of Radha, the childhood friend and lover of Lord Krishna. The town is considered as one of the most important pilgrimage spots for Vaishnavas and especially Gaudiya Vaishnavas, who consider Radha as the most respectable Goddess or Shakti. The town is also the only place in India where lath mar holi is played.
