Haldi Ghati
The Haldi Ghati, also known as the Yellow Vale, is the plains of Rajsamand District famed for the battle of Haldighati, fought in 1576 between Maharana Pratap and Akbar. The place is called so as the soil here, is yellow in colour and appears likeHaldi or turmeric. This place has also been mentioned as 'Thermopile of Mewar' in British author Col. James Todds book, Anals and Antiquities of Rajputana.Lying near these plains is Badshahibaug, which is famous for its Chaitri-Gulab. The rose water and rose petal jam available at this place, is said to carry medicinal properties as well as being a famous sweet of the region.
