Umed Gardens
Umed Garden is spread over an area of 82 acres. Developed by Maharajah Umed Singh, the garden has five separate gates around it to facilitate entry to the garden from different directions. Within the garden, tourists can find Ashoka trees, lawns, fountains, a library and a zoo. Home to roses and seasonal flowers, it is one of the most popular gardens of Jodhpur. The zoo in the garden was inaugurated by Viceroy Willingdon. Apart from being an abode to lions, tigers, zebras, ostrich, and emu, the zoo also houses different types of birds like African and Australian parrots and ducks, and rabbits. At the zoo, tourists can also see pigeons, crocodiles, foxes, deer, lions, and leopards. In addition to a separate cage made for monkeys, the zoo also contains a walk-in Aviary.Constructed in the garden in 1978, this aviary permits tourists to view African and Australian parrots in their natural habitat. A large cage for bears opposite the aviary is another attraction of this site.
