Gadsisar Lake
Gadsisar Lake was built during the 14th century by Maharwal Gadsi. This artificial rainwater lake was the chief water source during that time. There are numerous shrines and small temples on the embankment of this lake. The main attractions of the lake are the different species of birds, which migrate from distinct places. Some of these birds fly from the nearby Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary for drinking water. This lake is not an oasis, but is a water conservation tank that controlled the entire water supply during the reign of Maharwal Gadsi Singh, the Maharaja of Jaisalmer. There is a gateway located near the lake, which was built by Tillon (royal courtesan) during the 19th century. It arches across the road, where there is a statue of Lord Vishnu, which was installed in 1908.The Gadsisar Lake is situated near Tillon ki Prol (Gate of Tillon) in Jaisalmer. Travellers can take an auto rickshaw or rickshaw to visit this lake.
