Chaphal is a major tourist destination in its region, located about 43 km towards the south of Satara City of Maharashtra. Chaphal is famous for the Shri Ram Temple dedicated to Lord Rama, which was built by Samarth Ramdas Swami. The idol of Lord Rama in this temple, was discovered in the river at Angapur, by Samarth Ramdas Swami. The temple is constructed in marble and it has two Maruti temples in its vicinity. A memorial to mark the first meeting of Samarth Ramdas Swami and Chhatrapati Shivaji can also be found at Chaphal.
