Karnala Fort Travel Map

10 km from the city region of Panvel is the fort of Karnala, which is also known by the name Funnel Hill. The Karnala Fort is located within the protected region of Karnala Bird Sanctuary and it also has a very important place in the ancient history of the region. The Karnala Fort is located on the route of the Bor pass, which used to be the ancient trade route of the region.The Karnala Fort has two small towers within itself with one at higher level while the other is located at the lower area of the fort. The basalt pillar located at the centre region of the tower is about 125 ft high and the tower is also known by the name of Pandu Tower. Presently the tower is in ruined condition, but earlier the tower was used as a watch tower. The nearby regions of Rajmachi and Prabalgad are clearly visible from the region.
