Karad is one of the historic cities of Maharashtra, located at a distance of about 50 km from Satara City. Karad was a prominent territory under the empires of Mauryas, Chalukyas, Bahmanis, Rashtrakutas, Marathas, Peshwas, Satavahanas, Mughals and the British.
