The Gateway of Ratnagiri is located at the Ratnagiri Jetty, on the Mandavi Beach in Ratnagiri District of Maharashtra. This structure with a sloping roof, is found at the head of the bay, overlooking the Arabian Sea.The gateway of Ratnagiri is adjoined to a wall that has many bastions at close intervals. The whole structure leads to the Balekilla Fort, situated on the north-west of the Mandavi Beach. These constructions, as per legends, were the work of Pratinidhi Dhondu Bhaskar, for the defense of the shoreline of Ratnagiri.Today, the Gateway of Ratnagiri is visited often by those who love to stroll along the sea shore enjoying the sea breeze.
