Metrewave Radio Telescope Facility
Located around 8 km from Narayangaon, the Metrewave Radio Telescope Facility is run by the National Centre for Radio Astrophysics, which is a part of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Bombay. The facility houses a Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT), a multipurpose instrument, specially utilized to detect different radio astrophysical problems.Besides astronomers, the general public is also allowed to see the functioning of the largest radio telescope in the world as well as tour the institute, on every Friday. One can see various astronomical bodies like pulsars, galaxies, supernovae, stars, planets etc. through this GMRT.
