Pali Ganesh Mandir
The temple of Pali Ganesh is situated in the Sudhagad Taluk, close to Nagothane. The temple, also known as Ballaleshwar, was named after Ballal, the son of Kalyan Shreshthi, who is said to have worshipped the deity rigorously. Earlier, it was a wooden temple and was constructed in such a way that sun rays would fall straight on the deity during equinoxes. It fell to ruin and was reconstructed in the year 1770 AD, by Morobadada Phadanvis.A 3 ft tall idol of Ganesha is placed in the 15 ft high inner sanctum. The outer sanctum of the temple is 12 ft high, along with a rat idol holding a modak (Indian sweet) in its hand and facing Ganesha. The hall of the temple was built by Shri Krishnaji Ringe in 1910 and is about 40 ft long and 20 ft wide, with 8 pillars. The Ganesha idol is embedded with diamonds in the eyes and the navel. The temple has big bells, brought by Chimaji Appa, after defeating the Portuguese in Vasai and Sasthi. There are two lakes in front of the temple. One can visite the temple anytime except during the rainy season.
