Tansa Wildlife Sanctuary
Tansa Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the Mokhada, Wada and Shahapur talukas, which are situated in Thane district of Maharashtra. The sanctuary covers an area of around 320 sq. km and houses various forests like Vaitarna, Khardi, Shahapur and many more. The Tansa Lake, which is situated within the sanctuary, provides water to the wildlife.It is famous among travellers for its rich flora including ain, hed, bamboo, teak, kalamb, bibla, khair and others. The sanctuary also houses around 50 species of animals such as langur, mouse deer, wild boar, sambar and four-horned antelope to name a few. Moreover, travellers can also explore around 200 species of water as well as land birds. Tourists can visit the sanctuary in the months extending from November to May and can reach through buses or taxis.
