Ajanta & Ellora

Ajanta and Ellora caves are a UNESCO World Heritage sites located near Aurangabad in the state of Maharshtra. It is considered to be one of the finest example of ancient rock-cut caves. The caves at Ajanta are all of Buddhist, while the caves at Ellora are a mixture of Buddhist, Hindu and Jain. There are 34 caves at Ellora and 29 caves at Ajanta . One of the most famous site is incredible Kailasa Temple which forms cave 16 at Ellora, is the most famous attraction. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The special thing about Ajanta and Ellora is that they were crafted by hand, with only hammer and chisel. These rock-cut caves carvings are the best examples of ancient Indian architecture and sculpture.
