Kondana Caves are rock-cut ancient Buddhist caves, located at an hour's trek away from the Kondana village. According to archaeologists, these caves date back to the 2nd century BC. Inside the cave, several stupas, chaityas, sculptures and viharas can be seen. The stone carvings on the octagonal pillars of the caves depict men and women in dancing poses. In the 1900s, due to an earthquake, the floor and stupas of the caves were damaged. To maintain the sanctity of the place, smoking and liquor consumption are strictly prohibited inside the caves as well as in the nearby areas.
