Puthen Palli Travel Map

Puthen Palli or Basilica of Our Lady of Dolores is a major attraction of Thrissur, known for being the biggest and tallest church in Asia. Puthen Palli, which covers an area of about 2300 m, is built in Indo-Gothic style of architecture and has characteristic features such as lofty belfries, double-storey aisles at the nave and transepts, eleven altars, etc. The interiors of the church are decorated with murals, scenes from scriptures and pictures of saints. It took about 11 years for the construction of the church and it was opened for the public in 1940.
