Thrikkavu Temple
The Thrikkavu Temple is an ancient temple, which is devoted to Shri Durga Bhagavath. This temple is considered as one amongst the 108 Durga temples established by Parasurama in Kerala. It is believed that the name of this temple was derived from 'Thrikkani Kaadu'. The goddess of this temple is considered to be Sarvabeeshtapradhayini, which means one who grants all wishes. The predominant deity of this temple is Goddess Durga. Here, Bhagavathy (the goddess) is revered in two different forms viz. Durga and Saraswati (the goddess of Knowledge). Besides, there are temples of Lord Krishna, Hanuman, Sasthavu, Sidhi Vinayakan, Upa-Devatha, and Brahma Rakshass. The temple houses a Kshetrakulam, a pond, along with pratishtas of Naga Raja, Naga Yakshi and Naga. There is a temple of Moola Ganapathy located near the pond. The festival called Navarathri Mahotsavam' is celebrated here annually. A ritual called Vidyarambham' which means the formal beginning of education is organised here on the day of Vijayadasami. A large number of children gather in the temple premises on that day. At the time of mandalam season, a festival of Vrishchika Mandala Mahotsavam is celebrated here.
