Shoranur

Shoranur is a town and a municipality in the Palakkad District of Kerala. This town is situated around 24 km away from Lakkidi, on the banks of the Bharathapuzha River. The town was known as the Cheran Vana Oor or Cheravanoor during the ancient times. One of the prime attractions of Shoranur is the Kerala Kalamandalam. This place is considered as one of the major learning centres of classical art of Kerala, like the Koodiyattam, Kathakali, Koothu, Ottamthullal, Mohiniyattam and Panchavadyam. The Indian Institute of Panchakarma, Keraleeya Ayurveda Samajam, Bharthapuzha Bank and Kavalappara Palace are visited by many tourists. Some of the other major tourist attractions in the town are Pattambi Nercha, Kayiliyad Pooram, Trippatta Pooram and Ariyankav Pooram.
