Palappuram
Palappuram is a small town, located around 5 km away from Lakkidi. This town lies between the Palakkad and the Shoranur regions. The ancient shrine of Chinakkathoor, dedicated to Goddess Durga, is the prominent attraction of this town. The Chinakkathoor Pooram festival, organised in the month of March or April every year, attracts tourists in large numbers to the village. The festival is accompanied by huge processions, fairs and elephant parades. The festival also features rare and special horse sculptures, also known as Kuthira, which are crafted using straw, paper and cloth. The Mariamman Temple, St. Mary's Church, mosques and Dakshinamoorthy Temple are other major attractions of this village. The Someswaram Temple, one of the 108 Shiva temples established by Parasurama, is also a popular attraction of Palappuram.
