Ettumanoor Mahadeva Temple

Ettumanoor Mahadeva Temple, also known as Ettumanoor Mahadevar Temple, is one of the ancient Lord Shiva temples located near Kottayam in the state of Kerala. It is also believed that sage Vyasa and the Pandavas offered their prayers at this temple. The word 'manoor' in the name of the place Ettumanoor means 'the land of deer. This temple was constructed in 1542 AD with Dravidian mural paintings decorating the main entrance and the walls. The temple is also popular for the 'arattu festival' which is celebrated every year on 'Thiruvathira Day' in February or March.
