Indian Naval Maritime Museum

Indian Naval Maritime Museum, located at INS Dronacharya in Kochi, showcases the devotion, bravery and selfless services rendered men of Indian navy. This museum throws light on the genesis, evolution and history of the Indian Navy. Kerala's trade links with Arabs, which influenced the India's naval power in South East Asia, is also showcased in the museum. Interestingly, the museum also presents the aspects of shipbuilding in India. The exhibits at the museum depict of how the Indian expertise in shipbuilding took the Indian culture to the islands of Java, Sumatra and Bali. The details of the operations like Junagadh operation, the Goa liberation and Indo-Pak conflicts of 1965 and 1971are also seen. Moments of Operation Cactus, Operation Pawan and the strategic drills during the Kargil war are also showcased in the museum. Located about a kilometre south of St. Francis Church in Fort Kochi, this museum is just 15 km away from Ernakulam City. The museum can be reached either by hiring taxis from the Kochi city or boarding bus.
