The Chamundeswari Temple is also known as Thozhuvancode Shree Chamundi Devi Temple. It is situated in the close area of Guruvayur Temple, at a distance of 9 km from Trivandrum. Chamundeswari Devi, a revered form of Goddess Durga is the presiding deity of the temple. The idol of Chamundeswari Devi is made of five metals or panchloha, namely, gold, lead, copper, iron and silver. The temple also houses a number of shrines that are devoted to Ananta, Karinkali Devi, Mohini Yakshi, Thamburan, Ganesha, Durga and the Navagrahas (Sun, Moon, Venus, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, Rahu and Kethu). A separate shrine in the temple's premise is devoted to Thazhthukavu Bhagavathy, where the deity is placed as a simple stone slab. The architectural feature of the temple comprises of a beautiful exterior. The calm and religious environment of the temple makes it a perfect place for meditation.
