Vamanamoorthy Temple, one of the religious sites of the destination, represents the architectural styles and workmanship of ancient Kerala. Located at Thrikkakara near Kalady, the temple is devoted to Lord Vamanamoorthy, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. It is believed that for sending Mahabali, the Asura king to Pataal, Lord Vishnu took the incarnation of Vamana. For doing the same, Lord Vishnu pushed him under the earth. The beautiful architecture and inscriptions dating back to the 10th and 13th centuries attract devotees and tourists to the site. Tourists visit the temple in large numbers during the celebrations of Onam.
