St. Mary's Orthodox Syrian Cathedral is located at a distance of around 15 km from this destination. Popularly known as Thumpamon Valiyapally, is an ancient church, situated in the Thumpamon village of Pathanamthitta District of Kerala. Being the headquarters of Thumpamon Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, the church served as an ancestral place of worship of the Nazarene Christians. These Christians had settled down in Thumpamon around 1,600 years ago. Constructed in 717 AD, the church was entitled with the name of 'The little Jerusalem Church' by Parumala Kochu Thirumeni on his return from a journey to Jerusalem.
