Puthenkavil Bhagavathy Temple is located at a distance of around 8 km from Adoor. The temple was constructed by a saintly man from the Palappallil family of Kurampala, who once reached Kodungallur and stayed there for a long period. It is believed that delighted by the bhakti of the devotee, the Goddess rewarded him with a part of her spiritual strength. When he returned and informed the villagers about the incident, the Puthenkavil Bhagavathy Temple was constructed and the idol was installed. The idol enshrined at the sanctum has an eight handed Bhadrakali Kolam which is made of hardwood obtained from the jack tree. Besides this, idols of Ganesha, Adavi, Yakshi, Madan, Marutha, Moorthy, Anamarutha and Ghantakarnan with other sub deities are also enshrined in the temple.
