Jama Masjid
Jama Masjid, located in Nowhatta, is one of the most important mosques in Srinagar. This mosque was constructed in 1400 AD by Sultan Sikandar. However, later the mosque was extended by Zain-ul-Abidin, who was the son of Sultan Sikandar.370 wooden pillars and beautiful courtyard along with Indo-Saracenic architecture are some of the attractions of Jama Masjid. On Friday, the mosque is flocked by thousands of Muslims to offer prayers. This mosque has seen several destructions till date as it was ruined thrice by fire and was reconstructed each time. However, the last restoration of this mosque was done during the reign of Maharaja Pratap Singh
