Chashmashahi

Chashmashahi, constructed in 1632 AD, is the smallest of the three Mughal gardens located in Kashmir. Meaning Royal Spring, this garden is located above the Nehru Memorial Park. Measuring 108 m by 38 m, the garden was built by Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahan.This garden offers a beautiful view of Dal Lake along with neighbouring mountains. In addition, this garden also has several terraces with fountains, which are constructed right through the centre of this garden.Besides three terraces and fountains, the other attractions of this garden include an aqueduct and few waterfalls. The water for these fountains comes from the spring. In addition, there is a small shrine, located near to this garden, which is known as the Chasma Sahibi.
