Betab Valley
Located at just 7 kilometres up from Pahalgam Chandanwari Road, is the beautiful Betab Valley. It is surrounded by snow-covered mountain peaks and dense pine and deodar forests. There is a well maintained garden in the valley and a bridge to cross the Sheshnag stream which originates from Amarnath shrine. A paved walkway runs along the edge of the green meadows. Plenty of trees provide shaded spots for visitors to rest under. One can walk around leisurely enjoying the pristine beauty of the place. The more adventurous can go for trekking in the adjoining hills. Trout fishing is popular in Lidder River. Betab valley is an ideal picnic spot to enjoy with family and kids.Kolhai Glacier, Tarsar and Maarsar Lakes, Aru Valley, Tulian Lake, Shikargaah, Baisaran, ancient Mamal Shiva Temple and Martand Sun temple ruins are some of the areas of tourist interest near the valley.This location offers option to camp in tents if you like camping. There are hotels suiting all type of budgets at Pahalgam. Betab valley can be trekked from Pahalgam. Else, ponies or cabs can be hired from there. The best time to visit Betab Valley is between the months of October and April.
