Imambara Badgam
Imambara Badgam was built in 1857 by Aga Syed Mohammad and holds religious significance for Shiite Muslims of Kashmir. According to historians, Shiate Aga Syed Mehdi used to pray at this site. Tourists can explore the beautiful Indo-Iranian architecture of the 19th century in this Imambara. The interiors were designed by Asgar Ali of Mirgund and in 1924 Aga Syed Sahib worked for the extension of the building with the work of papier mache.Later in 1955, Anjuman-e-Shari Shian and Aga Syed Yusuf Al-Mosavi Al-Safvi carried another extension of the building. At present, the structure is octagonal in shape and has 5 entrances each 12 ft wide. Out of these entrances, one is reserved for women only. After visiting this site, tone can visit the nearby mosque, which was also built by Aga Syed Yusuf Al-Mosavi Al-Safvi.
