Nahan
Nahan is a gentle hill-town with a sleepy air. It was one of the many capitals of the Bhatti kings of Sirmour (among Kalsi, Hatkoti, Neri, Ritesh, Devthal...), the only one to have lasted as capital over several centuries. Contemporary Nahan offers tranquil hours among wooded hills, ancient shrines, an old fort and the charm of ancient skills (such as gun-smithing) still at work in the cobbled marketplace. Nahan is also a great base for forays into the landmarks dotted across the old empire. Visit Hindu, Sikh and Buddhist shrines in Renukaji, Paonta and Trilokpur. Take fishing and bird-watching options from Nahan to the Asan Barrage, within easy driving distance.
