The Kamru Fort is located at a height of 2600 m above sea level, around 2 km from Sangla Valley and 229 km from Shimla. The fort has many gates with a picture of Lord Buddha at the main gate of the fort.A wooden balcony adorns the upper parts of the fort, whereas the deity of Kamakhya Devi (Kamakshi Dev) is housed in the 3rd floor. It is believed that the deity was brought from Guwahati. There is also a 15th century Badrinath temple located in Kamru Fort. A big fair is organized every year in the temple premises in honour of the deity. The deity is taken to Gangotri during the fair
