Colva is a white sand beach, which is visited by tourists, especially in the month of October. This 24 km long beach is one of the longest beaches in the world. Close to the beach is the Nossa Senhora de Merces (Our Lady of Mercy) Church. The main highlight of this church is the statue of Child Jesus placed at the altar. Discovered by Father Ferreira in 1640 on the coast of Mozambique, this statue is believed to have gifting powers. This statue was installed at this church in 1648. On the second Monday of October every year, the Fama festival is organised at this church, which attracts several tourists from all over.
