Fontainhas is known for it's Old Portuguese charm. An old Portuguese district situated in the west of the Ourem River, near the hill of Altinho, has been called so because of it's location amidst several springs. In the southern part of the site is located the Church of St. Sebastian. Located west of the Ourem River, it is known for the beauty of tiny overhanging balconies of terracotta tiled houses and narrow cobbled streets with red, blue, yellow and green buildings with shuttered windows. At the district, tourists can view the ingrained Portuguese culture in the lifestyle of the Goan people.
