This wildlife sanctuary was established in the year 1969 with some of the rare varieties of wildlife. But presently, the wildlife has been reduced to an extent, because of the mass hunting that were carried out earlier. Other wild animals located here include wildlife like porcupines, gazelles, panthers, sloth bears and hyenas that usually remain within the region of their natural habitat. This wildlife sanctuary consists of a proper camping and stay facilities for the visitors but a written permission from the Deputy Conservator of the Forest, located at Panjim, will be required for the same. The best time to visit this wildlife sanctuary is between the months from October to March. There is an eco - tourism complex within the sanctuary consisting of a library, reception area, rescue centre and an interpretation centre along with several other common facilities.
