Dr. Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary is situated around 10.2 km away from Miramar, along the Mandovi River. This is considered to be the only bird sanctuary in Goa and is named after the famous Indian ornithologist, Dr. Salim Ali. The sanctuary is home to around 400 species of migratory and local birds. A variety of insects and fish can also be found in the sanctuary that is surrounded by mangrove vegetation. Flying fox, crocodile and jackal can be seen here.
